A significant winter storm is impacting the Plains and Upper Midwest, expected to continue through Tuesday morning. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Twin Cities reported a band of heavier snow passing over their office before the 1PM observation on Saturday and measured 3/4" of snowfall in the last hour by Saturday evening. Conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly, with snow changing to rain tonight and Monday, then back to light snow with colder temperatures on Tuesday. The 1AM update indicated that most snow with this storm would fall on Sunday as the heavier band lifts northward. Snowfall rates of 1"/hr are expected, with isolated instances of thundersnow.
