Heavy to excessive rainfall is affecting parts of the Northwest, including Metro Vancouver and Seattle, due to a late-season atmospheric river event. In Metro Vancouver, the Tri-Cities area near the confluence of the Pitt and Fraser Rivers has recorded significant rainfall, with 56 mm measured through 9 AM on Monday. Earlier measurements included 18 mm, 25 mm, and 30 mm at different times. The event has led to strong winds and heavy rain in Seattle, causing a tree and powerline to topple. Environment and Climate Change Canada accurately predicted the rainfall, and the National Weather Service has issued warnings for the region.
