A geomagnetic storm has led to stunning auroral displays across various regions, including the United States, Canada, Europe, Russia, and Ukraine. The Space Weather Prediction Center initially expressed skepticism about visible auroral activity in the contiguous United States, but later confirmed a Kp max level of 4 and anticipated a CME impact. The northern lights were observed in Metro Vancouver, Ukraine, and various other locations. NOAA's satellites captured images of the auroras, and the phenomenon was also visible from space. The auroral activity is expected to continue, with forecasts indicating a chance to see vivid displays across high latitudes in North America.
From our space weather expert Tony Rice: a moderate geomagnetic storm which could produce similar auroral activity to what was seen last week. ARRIVES: around sunset this evening (Saturday, Nov 11), with effects being felt in the upper atmosphere. Possible northern lights! https://t.co/Y6JekD3icx
The Northern Lights could be visible across more of the U.S. tonight. https://t.co/b2N64iumoN
A good chance to see some vivid aurora displays tonight across the high latitudes in North America as a geomagnetic storm is in progress… https://t.co/TTzBRPv5Vw
Closer look at expected wind gust peaks for SW BC this evening. If these hold as projected power outages are likely in Metro Vancouver. #BCstorm #BCstormwatch https://t.co/rDdjtpKAfZ
According to the https://t.co/IXB0dijorH projection there could be damaging gusts in the Metro Vancouver area over the next few hours. Meanwhile, in rainfall terms, I'm seeing about 5 mm/hour at my location in the Tri-cities. #BCstorm @bc_news_addict @Zach_wx @Weatherman2709 https://t.co/4mmx93F1jO
Four views from https://t.co/IXB0dijorH for Friday at 7 PM. High winds, heavy rain on the BC outer coast. Rainy here in Metro Vancouver, with about 10 mm of rainfall in the gauge at my location, and a little breezy. #BCstormwatch @bc_news_addict @RyanVoutilainen @Weatherman2709 https://t.co/TF0Co2qBYd

The northern lights are expected to be visible tomorrow (Saturday) night across northern New England. Clear skies and just a sliver crescent moon. As usual, best seen with some longer-exposure photography. #aurora https://t.co/eZpmNUASOB
All is once again quiet on the space weather front. Fantastic auroral displays earlier in the week for many regions across the planet. Here's the situation today, along with a look back and a three-day look ahead. Space Weather Prediction Center. @RyanVoutilainen @ensembleator https://t.co/regBOIluhx
Wow, talk about a spectacular view! 🤩 The Northern Lights put on a dazzling show outside of the NWS office in Riverton, Wyoming, this week. 📷: @NWSRiverton https://t.co/qLkxvDPqWm
A geomagnetic storm that reached Earth on Nov. 5 resulted in brilliant auroras (northern lights) that danced around the Northern Hemisphere. The VIIRS sensors onboard @NOAA's polar-orbiting @JPSSProgram satellites captured this beautiful halo-like imagery over a 24-hour period. https://t.co/OCJymHPQxN
The phenomenon of the aurora borealis, known as the aurora borealis, was recorded in the sky above the city of Murmansk in northern Russia. https://t.co/vy1O8SgSKg
More #AuroraBorealis action from the lingering geomagnetic storm. https://t.co/aym63GGYPE
NOAA-18, 11 PM PST. From a high angle pass over Metro Vancouver. Beautiful day. Check out the lovely detail in these shots. Received and processed via VHF radio signal. #BCstormwatch @ChuckDalldorf @Weatherman2709 @WestSeaWx @bc_news_addict @RyanVoutilainen https://t.co/PQjyfcZa3x
Did anyone see the aurora on Sunday night? They shone over the northern U.S. and northern Europe, while giving Scandinavia and Canada incredible shows. In Virginia, a “SAR” was captured by sensitive cameras. https://t.co/7R5JeXBFrd
NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center calls for "storming" continuing into November 7 (UTC). We are now into Nov. 7 as of 4 PM PST/7 PM EST. You may be fortunate and see some auroral action. Here in Metro Vancouver it's another rainout. :) @vancity_kapoor @RyanVoutilainen https://t.co/ckvrs3loQp
Recent auroral activity by the numbers. From the Space Weather Prediction Center, part of NOAA. https://t.co/yYfqu7BUYh
Did you see the #Auroraborealis last night? It was visible across the northern U.S. with another opportunity to watch Tuesday night! https://t.co/tX7w90uLBg
Parts of Europe, Canada and the United States saw a magnificent display of the northern lights (aurora) Sunday. See our full report and some amazing photos ⬇️ https://t.co/MMwHFDhfZd
The broadcast of the future — we pushed an aurora update, which I did from my hotel room, to the northern U.S. and Canada yesterday afternoon. 100,000 views, and it was geotargeted only to those with a good chance of seeing the lights. @MyRadarWX https://t.co/qIGB0twbHb
A vibrant #Auroraborealis flowed for a 2nd night in a row. Here are two views of the celestial activity acquired from above by NOAA's @JPSSProgram fleet. You can view more of these Day Night Band scenes via https://t.co/N94utqlp7f https://t.co/j9LLeW3gPn

"Stormy". Space wx that is. Mind you the total energy is dramatically down from earlier in the day. Besides, any glimmer of hope for auroral action here in Metro Vancouver is dimmed by the rain. @bobmackin @ChuckDalldorf @RyanVoutilainen @WestSeaWx @YvonneSchalle @bc_news_addict https://t.co/ZiLtqfQanU
