The latest Drought Monitor shows that drought conditions continue to worsen in California, North Carolina, and South Carolina. A small portion of southern and western NC is in severe drought, while most areas are categorized as dry. The entire area is now under moderate to severe drought, with 91% of North Carolina and 63% of South Carolina affected. No widespread, soaking rain is expected in the next 5-6 days.
