The Atlantic Ocean is currently experiencing a lull in tropical activity, with no active tropical cyclones for the first time in over two months. However, attention is now turning to Invest 94L and 90E, two areas of low pressure that have the potential to develop into tropical cyclones. Invest 94L, located over the central tropical Atlantic, is producing disorganized shower activity and could threaten the Antilles. Meanwhile, 90E in the East Pacific is showing signs of organization and favorable conditions for strengthening. Meteorologists are closely monitoring the development of both systems and the potential paths they may take.
TRACKING THE TROPICS: Monitoring low pressure in the Atlantic. When the system may be named. Plus a look at the new pattern setting up. https://t.co/l88izsJe3x
Another forecast challenge for #94L if it develops (and one we've seen a few times this year) is a discrepancy in models/ensembles in the speed of recurvature. Sunday we have EPS members ranging from just SE of Bermuda to others hanging out in the NE Caribbean. https://t.co/i7Zxkx4TF4
#94L continues to be a forecast enigma. Huge discrepancy between GFS and ECMWF suites on whether we have a TC near/east of the Lesser Antilles this weekend. The system has gotten a little better organized since yesterday, but it's not clear if that's reflected at the surface. https://t.co/RAbxiEPCxk
TROPICS: A broad area of low pressure (Invest 94L) located over the central tropical Atlantic, about midway between the Windward Islands and the Cabo Verde Islands, is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions are expected to… https://t.co/ke3vgPTS35 https://t.co/Gov9AMycrw
#90E is looking more like a TC tonight with organized convection, some banding, and some rotation. Not far off now. Will be able to strengthen in the next few days amid favorable conditions and impressive upper divergence https://t.co/ixMdMPADiu
Here's the latest on the tropics. INVEST 94-L with an 80% chance of development. Next named storm is Tammy. https://t.co/Z8GTj1hbRx
Here's the latest on INVEST 94-L. This should turn to the north and stay far away from the Southeast Coast. Something we will be tracking for a while though. https://t.co/vcrRszr19R
For the first time in more than 2 months, there are no tropical systems in the Atlantic Ocean. The only game in town is a broad area of low pressure that could become a depression/storm over the next 7 days. This system could threaten the Antilles, but it is no threat to the… https://t.co/mTZq6tqhgg https://t.co/mrA8ZkPkug

Today is the first day since August 11th that we have not had an active TC in either the EPAC or NATL basin. That will likely change soon with #94L & #90E among other features looming, but it’s nice to have a brief (however small) respite in overall TC activity. #tropics https://t.co/8pNFhpyqYw
#94L continues to look rather elongated and sloppy - doesn't really look like convection is concentrating at all. Some models still seem to insist it'll pull together as it approaches the Lesser Antilles, but others (like deterministic Euro) just keep it as a wave for days. https://t.co/ne6HyudOQF

While #94L sputters along in the MDR, the late-season East Pacific will continue to produce. New invest #90E appears likely to form into a TC in the coming week, and has a chance to be another system that turns back NE towards Mexico. Worth keeping an eye on this one there. https://t.co/yPsseVke0L
