Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) is set to introduce its 'A16' chipmaking technology in late 2026, aiming to produce ultra-advanced 1.6-nanometer chips. TSMC's founder, Morris Chang, criticized the U.S.'s attempt to onshore semiconductor manufacturing as futile. The company developed the A16 process faster than expected due to demand from AI chip makers and does not require ASML's new High NA EUV lithography machines for the technology.
