Concerns over TikTok's influence on political content and its potential threat to national security have been highlighted in a series of comments. Critics argue that the platform has been used to advance extremism and suppress empathy across political divides. A report suggests that TikTok boosts posts that align with the interests and priorities of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), potentially amplifying content that the CCP wants users to see and believe by up to 180 times, while downplaying content it opposes. Some users have called for the app to be banned, citing national security concerns and the spread of harmful content to young users. Allegations have also emerged that TikTok shows bias against pro-Israel posts, with claims that the company serves a narrative favored by Hamas. The issue of TikTok's management of political content has been a contentious topic, with former President Trump attempting to ban the platform, a move that was blocked by the courts multiple times. The Biden administration has not taken action against TikTok, which some attribute to its stance on the People's Republic of China (PRC). The Wall Street Journal's work on this issue has been praised by those concerned about TikTok's influence.

Ban TikTok. If you use it delete it from your phone. Not worth it. https://t.co/UD8GzpF6Bw
Very happy to see WSJ doing work on this. Tiktok is a real national security problem / is feeding our kids (and the future of our democracy) absolute crap - and is ultimately controlled by foreign entities with a stake in us being weak. It needs to be banned. https://t.co/SNsBg0m9RZ
Insightful research which demonstrates that TikTok is feeding content to users in line with CCP interests and priorities. https://t.co/m2nb3zJyvU

SHOCKING! I tell you, I'm SHOCKED! TikTok boosts posts favored by CCP: report https://t.co/hwThomRxUX
When I first learned what TikTok was in like 2018, I looked it up and said "lol just ban this nonsense," which Trump tried to do (and was blocked by the courts multiple times). Biden of course has done nothing because his administration supports the PRC.
Read through this article. TikTok has rapidly advanced extremism, throttled empathy across political divides, and promoted extremist content. https://t.co/QWMS8cwyww
