Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Warns of $5.5 Billion Loss, Cites $50 Billion China AI Market and Job Impact at Milken Conference

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has warned that U.S. export restrictions on AI chips to China could result in a "tremendous loss" for both Nvidia and the U.S. economy. Huang highlighted that China represents a $50 billion AI market expected to grow over the next two to three years.

Due to U.S. export controls, Nvidia has already recorded a $5.5 billion write-off tied to these restrictions. Huang emphasized the importance of not limiting the flow of powerful AI chips to countries like China, cautioning that such measures could allow competitors to replace U.S. companies in the AI race. Speaking at the 2025 Milken Global Conference, Huang also discussed the transformative potential of AI, suggesting it will augment the digital workforce and change millions of jobs worldwide. He urged individuals to embrace AI tools, stating, "You will not lose your job to AI, but will lose it to someone who uses it." Furthermore, Huang noted a shortage of workers and the potential to reintegrate 30 to 40 million people into the workforce through AI adoption. He also remarked on the resurgence of San Francisco as an AI hub. Despite concerns from some analysts about Nvidia's focus on the Chinese market, Huang remains committed to advancing AI technology globally.
