NASA has unveiled a new supersonic aircraft, the X-59, capable of flying 1.4 times the speed of sound. The experimental jet aims to pave the way for commercial travel faster than the speed of sound. It's around 50% faster than current passenger jets and would enable travel from London to New York in 3.5 hours. Additionally, a Starship passenger service, currently in development, could reduce the flight time from New York to Shanghai to just 39 minutes. Another innovation in air travel is the development of a self-flying electric robot air taxi that takes off vertically, eliminating the need for a pilot.

"NASA debuts supersonic jet called 'son of Concorde'- capable of flying from NYC to London in 3½ hours" https://t.co/kYnzB4TjRW It's 50% faster than current passenger jets but a LOT slower (albeit quieter) than Concorde was. You'd think in 50 years we'd have made more progress!
