Iran-backed Houthi rebels have launched ballistic missiles at American ships again, continuing a series of aggressive actions targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea. The head of the US Navy's 5th Fleet has described the attacks as 'reckless' and an 'international challenge that demands collective action.' A new maritime incident has been reported by the UK Maritime Trade Office (UKMTO) approximately 55 nautical miles southwest of the Houthi-controlled port of Hodeidah. An advisory note from UKMTO described a loud bang accompanied by a flash on the port bow of a vessel in the area, and all crew were reported safe. The container ship Maersk Hangzhou was reportedly struck by a missile, prompting a US warship to shoot down other anti-ship missiles. The US Central Command confirmed the attack on the Singapore-flagged, Denmark-owned Maersk Hangzhou, which requested assistance after the strike at approximately 8:30 p.m. Sanaa time.
