China's tech sector has introduced Manus AI, a new autonomous artificial intelligence agent developed by the startup Butterfly Effect. Manus, named after the Latin word for 'hand', is designed to perform complex tasks independently, such as analyzing stocks, creating travel itineraries, and screening resumes. The launch of Manus AI follows the emergence of DeepSeek, another Chinese AI model, and is seen as a direct challenge to U.S. tech firms in the AI sector. Manus AI's capabilities and its invitation-only access model have drawn comparisons to DeepSeek, highlighting China's growing influence in the AI industry and the development of autonomous AI agents for practical applications.
