A Virginia man who was wrongfully convicted of abduction, rape, and murder for the death of a 3-year-old in 1975 was exonerated on Tuesday. The man, who had been imprisoned for nearly 50 years, was granted a Certificate of Innocence. The Conviction Review Unit, which investigates claims of innocence, played a significant role in this case and has previously helped vacate more than 250 convictions under the guidance of State’s Attorney Kim Foxx.
