In contrast, St. Petersburg, Florida, saw a modest increase of about 1,800 residents, or 0.7%. Seattle's population grew by less than 1%, ranking it 13th among the 50 largest U.S. cities. Los Angeles's population remained flat, while New York City saw a considerable decline. Overall, Illinois lost more than 263,000 residents, or 2.1% of its population, from 2020 to 2023.
