The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has sent a letter Tuesday to Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and his handpicked Police Superintendent Larry Snelling, urging them to reconsider their decision not to take disciplinary action against eight officers connected to the Oath Keepers. Six of these officers have admitted to joining the extremist group. The SPLC, along with other civil rights activists and City Council members, criticized the internal police probe into the officers' ties to the antigovernment group. The Oath Keepers have been linked to the January 6 Capitol violence.
