Foxtrot, the upscale convenience chain, is set to make a comeback in Chicago after abruptly closing stores six weeks ago. The chain's non-real-estate assets were acquired by Further Point Enterprises for $2.2 million. The new ownership, backed by an investment group, plans to reopen about a dozen stores this summer, starting with the Gold Coast and Old Town locations. Foxtrot co-founder Mike LaVitola, who is leading the relaunch, stated that he couldn't sit on the sidelines. The company has entered into lease agreements for six former sites in Chicago and plans to reopen locations in Dallas and Austin as well.
