The Chicago Fire Department's Office of Fire Investigation (CFD OFI), guided by spokesperson Langford, has ruled the fire accidental, attributing it to the careless use of smoking materials. Initially, the pensioner was critically injured but later succumbed to their injuries. CFD plans to distribute fire safety materials at the scene on Thursday at 10 a.m.
