Various Canadian government officials and entities are actively working on building more affordable homes across the country. Initiatives such as the Affordable Housing Fund and the Housing Accelerator Fund have led to the construction of thousands of homes in different communities. Ontario presented Mayor Chow with $114 million for surpassing housing targets, while projects in Winnipeg are creating nearly 500 homes on a single block. The focus is on speeding up the construction process and making housing more affordable for residents.
We’re focused on building more homes that people can afford – and on changing the way communities build these homes. Last week, we announced agreements everywhere from Edmonton to Cape Breton to support the construction of thousands of homes. And we’re not done yet.
Did you know? Since September, the Housing Accelerator Fund has unlocked the construction of more than 600,000 homes in over 40 communities across Canada. We’re working with provinces, territories, and municipalities to cut red tape and build more homes, faster.
We’re building more homes in Ontario to make life more affordable and we’re rewarding municipalities that help us get it done. It was a privilege to present Mayor Chow with $114 million from Ontario’s Building Faster Fund after the city blew past its housing targets last year. https://t.co/vNOio9OKcx
Focussed on building more homes, faster, right across the country: Winnipeg has one of many projects which have come to life because of the Affordable Housing Fund. On a single block in the heart of Winnipeg, we’re building nearly 500 homes. More homes, faster. https://t.co/dJ5kPCGFap
