Senate Opens Vote-a-Rama on Trump’s ‘Big, Beautiful’ Tax Bill

The U.S. Senate on Monday opened a marathon “vote-a-rama,” allowing unlimited amendments to President Donald Trump’s so-called “Big, Beautiful” tax-and-spending bill. The session began at 9 a.m. and is expected to run for hours as lawmakers test support for dozens of proposed changes before a final vote on the sweeping legislation.

The amendment free-for-all follows a 16-hour reading of the entire bill last week, a delay tactic led by Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Republicans say the package would deliver significant tax cuts, while Democrats argue it risks widening the deficit and favoring high-income earners. The Senate must complete the vote-a-rama before moving to final passage, after which the measure would head to the House for reconciliation if altered.
