Kenya Seeks Private Investment for Mombasa and Lamu Ports; DP Kindiki Announces Sh600M Fishing Boats and Sh607M Logistics Center

Kenya has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to attract private investment for the development and operation of two major seaports on the Indian Ocean: Mombasa and Lamu. Both ports will be developed under a public-private partnership, with expansion plans that include new berths and upgraded facilities. In related developments, Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has been active in inspecting various projects, including the near-completion of the Kabonyo Fisheries and Aquaculture Training Centre in Kisumu. Additionally, he has announced that the government will purchase deep-sea fishing boats valued at 600 million Kenyan shillings. The government is also establishing a regional center for Marine Transport and Port Logistics in Kombani, Kwale County, with a budget of 607 million shillings.
