The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has confirmed that SpaceX's water discharge situation is causing delays in environmental reviews necessary to approve a higher flight cadence at the Boca Chica launch site. Allegations of SpaceX violating the Clean Water Act have been raised, but the FAA was unable to verify these claims, which were reportedly based on information from Texas authorities and media reports, including CNBC. Consequently, the FAA canceled public hearings on the environmental assessment for the Starship project. The FAA plans to release a revised Draft Tiered Environmental Assessment with new dates for public comment, as certain representations by SpaceX in their license application could not be confirmed.
