American Airlines has announced further cuts to its routes from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Starting in October, the airline will discontinue nonstop flights to Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Orlando. Additional cuts in November will affect routes to Boston, Nashville, and Raleigh-Durham (RDU), with service to Orange County ending in January 2025. After these changes, American Airlines will only serve its hubs, as well as Aspen, Cancun, and Los Cabos, from Austin. The cuts are part of the Fort Worth-based airline's ongoing efforts to increase profitability. Travelers will still have options for nonstop flights on Southwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines for many of the affected routes. The cuts will affect flights to four U.S. cities, including nine weekly nonstop flights between Las Vegas and Austin.
