The UK government, under Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, is expanding its 'hotspot policing' strategy to all 43 police forces in England and Wales, following successful trials that demonstrated its effectiveness in reducing anti-social behavior by half. This initiative, supported by officials including James Cleverly and CPhilpOfficial, involves targeted patrols in high-crime areas. Each police force will receive £1 million, contributing to a total of £66 million in government funding, to support the deployment of these patrols. The funding is expected to enable up to an estimated 20,000 hours of uniformed patrols per force from April. This approach will result in up to 900,000 extra hours of targeted patrols nationwide. Suella Braverman praised the initiative, noting its role in providing swift police responses and cutting crime in communities.
This is good news. Hotspot policing works: targeting resource at trouble spots provides swift police response & cuts crime in communities. I was pleased to start this work last year with the Anti-Social Behaviour Action Plan. Great to see the results & the national roll-out. https://t.co/aeBZInsSQ1
