The UK Parliament has passed the Victims and Prisoners Bill, which includes provisions for compensation to victims of the infected blood scandal and the Post Office scandal. The bill, which has now become law, aims to put victims at the heart of the criminal justice system. The legislation was approved by the House of Lords and will be enacted before Parliament is suspended for the General Election. Despite some criticism that it does not go far enough, the bill is seen as a significant step forward for victims' rights. The bill also addresses issues related to IPP prisoners, although recommendations for a resentencing exercise were not included. Additionally, the Finance Bill was passed, while the Renters Reform and Tobacco legislation were not.

Today, the Victims & Prisoners Bill has been approved. In the House of Commons,@neill_bob highlights again the struggle of people serving IPP sentences, as the recommendation to introduce a resentencing exercise was not taken up in the legislation. https://t.co/EopDqaHnIK
I’ve been working on the Victims Bill for nearly 10 years. It first started with the now @LDNVictimsComm Clare Waxman. I feel quite overwhelmed now watching it about to become law. It’s not perfect, but I’m proud of what we’ve achieved. Thanks to all victim & survivors who helped
NEW: Victims and Prisoners Bill will be pushed through tomorrow before Parliament is suspended for the GE. Also going through - compensation for Post Office & Infected Blood scandals, and Finance Bill. It's goodbye to everything else, including Renters Reform and Tobacco. @LBC
The Victims and Prisoners Bill also paves the way for compensation for blood scandal victims - it's now been passed in the Lords... https://t.co/ccZ0MDlyCO
Victims & Prisoners Bill has just passed in @UKHouseofLords - so phew for #IPP prisoners & families. Not good enough etc, but still, some comfort it has scraped through.
(1/2) I am pleased to hear the Government standing by commitments to deliver compensation to victims of the infected blood scandal. There can be no further delays and I look forward to seeing the Victims and Prisoners Bill finally passed into law before this Parliament ends. https://t.co/tQpLqLaLbx
