The UK is experiencing a spell of unsettled weather with rain and cloudy conditions dominating the forecast. According to the Met Office, Sunday evening will see cloudy skies with some late sunny spells and showers easing, leaving a dry night. However, rain is expected to move into the far west. Monday's weather will start wet for Scotland, Northern Ireland, and parts of northern England as rain sweeps eastwards, while other regions will remain dry but cloudy. By the afternoon, rain will continue spreading southeastwards, with Scotland, Northern Ireland, and southwest England seeing brighter skies. Temperatures are expected to be below average for many areas. Tuesday will begin grey and damp in eastern England, but other regions will experience bright or sunny spells with scattered showers in northern and western areas. The pattern of rain and showers will persist, particularly in the north, while the south remains drier. By Tuesday afternoon, most places will see rain, with the heaviest in Northern Ireland and northwest England, while the southwest stays mostly dry.
