Severe winter conditions have impacted Scotland's road network, prompting the deployment of 27 gritters and 15 patrol vehicles to treat roads and assist drivers. The South West Trunk Roads advised the public to use Traffic Scotland's gritter tracker for updates. The AWPR team dispatched treatments and spreaders, which patrolled and treated roads throughout the night. Aberdeenshire Roads reported the A92 closure at Catterline due to deep snowdrifts, with some gritter drivers unable to reach priority areas. Aberdeen Travel warned of snowfall affecting all main roads and advised only essential travel. The North West Trunk Roads managed snowfall on several major routes, including the A9, A99, A835, A87, and A82, with 16 winter vehicles working through the night. They confirmed all routes had been treated and patrols continued the following morning. Additionally, snow gates were closed at Cairn O'Mount B974 and Cockbridge A939, while the A93 in Braemar remained open. NE Trunk Roads cautioned against black ice across the northeast network, urging drivers to slow down. Traffic Scotland reported very tricky conditions in the North West, with gritters out in force. Shetland Police advised against travel due to impassable side roads and snow-covered main routes. Police Scotland announced the reopening of the A9 at Dunbeath and Helmdale after an overnight closure, but warned of extremely challenging road conditions in the North Highland area, urging essential travel only. A collision on the A9 between Kingussie and Dalwhinnie was reported, with police en route and warnings of tricky driving conditions.
