Rough sleeping in London has reached a record high, with 11,993 people recorded as homeless in the capital in the year to March, according to the latest Combined Homelessness and Information Network (Chain) statistics. This represents a 19 percent increase compared to the previous year and a 58 percent rise from the 7,581 people seen rough sleeping a decade ago, in 2014/15. The total number of rough sleepers in London is the highest figure ever recorded in the database for a single year.
