In the Rochdale by-election, a significant controversy has arisen over the number of postal votes cast. Rochdale Council confirmed that 13,460 postal votes were cast, accounting for 43.2% of the total votes, with 57% being on the day votes. This figure surpasses the 12,335 votes that secured George Galloway's victory. Concerns have been raised regarding the integrity of these postal votes, with allegations suggesting potential manipulation, particularly among voters of Asian descent who may not speak English fluently. Critics, including public figures and journalists, have called for the Electoral Commission to investigate the matter, highlighting the unusual proportion of postal votes to in-person votes, where 1/5 of voters registered for postal voting, 6/10 turned out to vote, 4/10 did not vote, and among the non-postal voters, 30% along with the other 4/5 never vote, indicating a third of the electorate abstains. Questioning who may have influenced or completed the ballots has become a focal point of the controversy.
Well, @ElectoralCommUK why are you not investigating the staggering number of postal votes in the Rochdale by-election? Who filled in the ballots? #RochdaleByElection https://t.co/POPV15CGBv
I’m perturbed that the Electoral Commission is not investigating the postal vote scandal in Rochdale. How do those of Asian descent who don’t speak English know how to complete a ballot paper? No doubt they have been ‘advised’ by Imams. It was a rigged election.
Postal votes in Rochdale 43% of votes cast were postal votes 57% on the day votes. 1/5 of voters registered for postal vote 6/10 turnout, 4/10 didn't vote [Registering is an extrs & it is easier] 30% along the other 4/5 [But a third never vote] https://t.co/2woBYYCJgE
As @Nigel_Farage told me when I got the postal vote numbers out of Rochdale Borough Council on Friday... https://t.co/u504uBAtqW https://t.co/B4qEeVkBVQ
This was on an @X timeline & I had to fact check it before publishing. Rochdale Council confirmed 13,460 postal votes, that is 43.2% were cast of which is more than the winning 12,335 votes that went to George Galloway. Over to you @ElectoralCommUK https://t.co/ZPVuU4mo1r https://t.co/AmfGE1M0a2
