Network Rail has unveiled a £140 million plan to address the recent disruptions on the Elizabeth line west of Paddington, following a meeting with Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, who described the past six months' issues as 'not acceptable'. The initiative aims to tackle problems that have affected the line, including a significant upgrade to the Paddington-Reading track, resulting in a month of cancelled trains. The overhaul will introduce 17% more trains and a 38% increase in tonnage on the Elizabeth line but will require two lines to be closed for the next four weeks during late-night hours, followed by 12 months of further work, including a signalling upgrade.
