Leicestershire police are investigating a sexting scam targeting members of the British Parliament, following reports of explicit images and flirtatious messages being sent to MPs. The scandal, described as 'a very troubling situation' by Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, Gareth Davies MP, involves Conservative MP William Wragg. Senior Tory MP admitted to leaking phone numbers in this 'spear phishing' sext scandal. Sir Robert Goodwill MP highlighted the need for MPs to be vigilant after receiving a suspicious call himself. A senior member of the Conservative Party confessed to sharing personal details of fellow lawmakers after being compromised by intimate photos. The investigation suggests the scam targeted at least 12 men working in and around Parliament, with the intent of blackmail and extortion, affecting both straight and gay members. Dr Luke Evans, MP for Bosworth, was the first to alert police and Commons authorities after becoming a victim. The scam has been active for a year, with warnings posted online. Political correspondent Alicia Fitzgerald suggested it is 'someone way closer to home', dismissing foreign influences. So far, 17 people have been identified as targets, including a second British lawmaker.
