Marks & Spencer (M&S) and other major UK retailers including Co-op and Harrods have suffered a series of cyber attacks over the past two weeks, resulting in operational chaos and financial losses estimated at £1 billion for M&S. The attacks have involved sophisticated social engineering tactics, with hackers impersonating IT help desk workers to gain access to company systems. The threat group UNC3944, also known as Scattered Spider, has been identified as a key actor behind these breaches, employing persistent and brazen methods. This group has connections to other ransomware entities such as DragonForce and RansomHub.
