International law enforcement agencies have successfully taken down the dark web site associated with the ransomware gang LockBit, which had claimed responsibility for an online attack on Georgia's Fulton County. The operation was a collaborative effort involving agencies from various countries, including the UK's National Crime Agency. The takedown was facilitated by exploiting a vulnerability, CVE-2023-3824. Following the operation, an FBI cyber official confirmed that LockBit would be unable to regain control of the servers they were using. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the indictment of two Russian nationals associated with LockBit, charging them with attacks against multiple U.S. and international victims. The Department of Treasury has also taken action against LockBit.
