Ahead of the upcoming Budget, several MPs and organizations are lobbying for the retention and increased funding of key support schemes like the Household Support Fund and special educational needs and disabilities services. Calls for extending these vital funds to tackle the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and support vulnerable groups have been prominent, with Jeremy Hunt set to announce an extension of the Recovery Loan Scheme for businesses.
NEW- it’s my understanding that Jeremy Hunt WILL today extended Household Support Fund through which councils have run schemes to offer free school meals in holidays, supermarket vouchers, food banks etc for 6 months from March. Over 170 councils been lobbying. 1/
Tomorrow the govt are announcing their Spring Budget. Within this I want to see greater support for disabled people through the cost-of-living crisis. I have backed @scope’s call and written to the Prime Minister urging him to consult on an energy social tariff. #budgetweek https://t.co/cKIru1H9ve
Millions of people have been hit hard by the cost of living crisis. The Household Support Fund has provided key support to the most vulnerable. But the Tories are now set to axe it. Ahead of the Budget, I've written to the Government calling on it to keep this vital fund. https://t.co/CqCnzgVPyG
Ahead of tomorrow’s Budget I have met with the Chancellor @jeremy_hunt & neighbouring MPs to push for more investment in #Stafford. I lobbied for increased funding to tackle flooding, investing in high streets, ways to level up West Midlands by creating jobs & childcare support. https://t.co/zFnACJhdGM
The ‘Cost of Living Crisis’ is not over. Thousands in Haringey are still financially struggling. Tomorrow the Tory Chancellor can choose to listen to every poverty charity in the country and retain the Household Support Fund. Or withdraw this support lifeline to millions. https://t.co/m2ppiIt4dE

Fantastic from the Co-Chair of the APPG for Compassionate Politics (secretariat = our sister org @CompInPolitics). Grateful to @Debbie_abrahams - removing the HSF will push more people into poverty. It must be retained in this week's budget. https://t.co/Y6r5f7U8Lp
Revealed: The government’s multibillion pound Recovery Loan Scheme, aimed at businesses with a a turnover of up to £45m, is to be extended for two years, Jeremy Hunt will announce in Wednesday’s Budget statement. https://t.co/RymMPjoLpK
Vulnerable people left “falling through the cracks” have urged the Government to extend a “vital” cost-of-living support scheme in the upcoming Budget, amid concerns it could be closed altogether @emma_morgan8 reports https://t.co/McnaewULEd
Millions are living in poverty, unable to afford rocketing food prices & bills. Instead of using #SpringBudget as a pre-election giveaway to his rich mates - the Chancellor needs to bring forward measures to support those struggling the most. https://t.co/Q6fIXf9rSU

For many families in Norwich, the Household Support Fund is a much-needed lifeline. Without it, many more families would be pushed into poverty. I have joined @Debbie_abrahams and over 90 Parliamentarians in urging the Chancellor to commit to keeping the Household Support Fund. https://t.co/Imwlif0pMb
Ahead of this Wednesday's Budget I have signed a letter to the Chancellor calling for SEND services to get the funding they need. https://t.co/DSp79glBJg
✍️ Myself & @_RuthieB_ have been campaigning to protect the Household Support Fund 💷 It has enabled us to help 330,000 residents with food, fuel and other emergency costs over 3 years 📢 The fund must be extended beyond March 2024 in @Jeremy_Hunt's budget on Wednesday
More lobbying today on Household Support Fund that is ending in March. Over 170 councils via @LGANews want it to be kept. But speaking to folk- I don’t think any chance Hunt will extend. They’ll point to other areas of support eg living wage/benefits rise https://t.co/PLCjoryCMw https://t.co/J15qT1sNGz
Great to see @GMB cover my letter, signed by 69 other Conservative MPs, calling for this week's Budget to increase spending for special educational needs and disabilities. There has been a huge increase in demand for SEND services. Funding must increase to match that demand. https://t.co/w4Z9HcR1HD
