A tragic incident occurred in the English Channel where five people, including a four-year-old girl, drowned after their overcrowded dinghy capsized. The boat, carrying 110 migrants, was under surveillance by the French Navy when it left Wimereux, near Boulogne. Despite attempts by the French police to stop them using sticks and firecrackers, the migrants continued their journey to the UK. On the same day, more than 400 other migrants successfully crossed the Channel. This year, there has been a 25% increase in such crossings, with 6,265 people having made the journey so far. The UK government has warned that illegal migrants will be deported to Rwanda this summer. Additionally, 58 people on the capsized boat refused rescue, and victims were reportedly trampled or crushed to death. Around 200 other migrants attempted the crossing within the same 24-hour period.
