RMT union members at Hitachi's Craigentinny depot in Edinburgh are demonstrating strong solidarity in their ongoing industrial action, now on Day 4, over demands for fair pay. The picket lines have seen a significant turnout, with one driver and a TPE guard refusing to cross, and taxi drivers also not crossing in support. Kate Osborne MP and the public have expressed solidarity with the workers protesting against low pay rises despite Hitachi's substantial profits. The RMT has highlighted Hitachi's distribution of £260,179,000 in dividends to shareholders while offering workers below-inflation pay raises. RMT General Secretary Mick Lynch has also called out the below-inflation pay offer for London Overground workers.
