The British Home Office initially denied visas to 47 young Afghan musicians traveling from Portugal for a tour to raise awareness on Afghan women. The musicians, part of the Afghan Youth Orchestra, were eventually granted entry after public outcry and will perform in the UK.
I wrote to the Home Secretary to urge the Government to learn from their most recent mess of issuing visas to young musicians from the Afghan Youth Orchestra. I hope their concert tonight and their onward tour of the UK go very well More information here: https://t.co/jxkWQotyXn https://t.co/4MFl8x5ehn
I have written to the Home Secretary about the mess of the Home Office failing to grant UK visas to touring musicians, as seen this week with the Afghan Youth Orchestra. Β I have had to fight for Ukrainian orchestras to be able to tour to the UK. It shouldn't be like this. ππ https://t.co/VzVzryafXW

π· Thanks to this government's utter failure on the asylum issue, the Home Office are having to come cap in hand to Parliament asking for money. It's simply not good enough. https://t.co/pvnrP0rabQ
Quelle surprise. The UK govt point blank refused these young musicians asylum in the UK during Op Pitting. They were stranded in dire peril in Kabul, and thank god finally made it out to Portugal. Of course the Home Office turned down their visas. https://t.co/30l6jE7QvM
