The BBC and talkSPORT have announced significant broadcast agreements with Rugby League Commercial for the Super League. The BBC secured a three-year deal to broadcast live Super League games for the first time, which includes 15 matches across BBC TV and BBC iPlayer, the World Club Challenge, and match highlights available on the BBC Sport website and app. Concurrently, talkSPORT has obtained broadcasting rights for the next two years, covering 40 matches per season, with commentary and reports. The coverage will commence with the Hull FC v Hull KR match on February 15.
A big move for rugby league: BBC to screen 15 live Super League and World Club Challenge matches (though 5 will be streaming only via iplayer). Mix of free-to-air and subscription on Sky Sports could be an important model for the sport.
