ArkeaBioTM has raised $26.5 million to develop a methane vaccine aimed at reducing livestock methane emissions. Methane emissions from cows are a significant contributor to man-made global warming, but they are also part of the natural carbon cycle, breaking down into CO2 and water after 10-12 years. Additionally, the FDA has approved Elanco's feed ingredient, Bovaer, which is designed to cut methane emissions in dairy cows and is already available in Brazil and other countries.

Key climate tech & energy news from last week: • The methane-reducing feed additive designed for livestock, Bovaer, already commercially available in Brazil and a handful of other countries, was approved by the FDA for use in the U.S. The feed additive can reduce methane… https://t.co/6ykK511Iha
“Cows burp and fart methane to an extreme degree. You can either fix cows to stop them doing that or you can make beef without the cow.” ~ Bill Gates He completely ignores the carbon & photosynthesis cycle of methane which eventually converts into CO2. https://t.co/6YcrGuXxcf

A significant share of man-made global warming comes from livestock production—particularly, the methane they burp. However, we shouldn't fool ourselves that getting rid of animal agriculture would solve climate change, write two experts. https://t.co/IaktZMMeSD
