Brazil’s Fluminense defeated Saudi side Al Hilal 2–1 in Orlando on Friday to become the first team to reach the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals. Midfielder Matheus Martinelli opened the scoring in the 40th minute, but Al Hilal levelled six minutes into the second half through Brazilian forward Marcos Leonardo. Fluminense will face either compatriot Palmeiras or England’s Chelsea in the semi-final on 8 July at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Beyond the sporting milestone, the win guarantees Fluminense an additional US$21 million in prize money, lifting its total earnings at the event to about US$60.8 million (roughly R$329 million). A place in the 13-team competition’s final would raise that figure to US$30 million, while the champions will collect US$40 million.
