Fire Erupts at PUCPR's TUCA Theater in Curitiba Due to Air Conditioner Explosion, No Victims Reported

A major fire broke out at the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR) in Curitiba on Tuesday night, starting in the TUCA Theater located in the Blue Block of the university. The fire began around 6 p.m. during a ceremony for the distribution of medical student uniforms. The fire was reported to have been triggered by an air conditioner explosion. The university was promptly evacuated, and no victims were reported. The fire department dispatched six fire trucks and 11 teams to combat the flames, with efforts focused on controlling the fire and preventing its spread to other areas of the campus in the Prado Velho neighborhood. All in-person activities and classes at the university were suspended as a result of the incident. The fire caused significant smoke in the Prado Velho neighborhood, leading to traffic disruptions. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
