In a series of legal developments, Aidan 'Turtleboy' Kearney, who is facing charges of domestic assault and battery, witness intimidation, and 'doxxing', is at the center of a contentious court battle. Special Prosecutor Ken Mello has requested sanctions against Kearney's attorney, Timothy Bradl, and has also sought to limit Kearney's communications from jail. Bradl, in turn, has filed a motion to disqualify and sanction Mello. The judge is considering whether Bradl may have violated jail rules by misidentifying a woman Kearney communicated with by phone as one of his attorneys. Mello has also been running a grand jury investigation related to Kearney's charges, which led to the seizure of Karen Read's phones earlier this week. Additionally, Mello has recommended monitoring Kearney's calls with Bradl, suspecting that Bradl may have allowed someone else to speak on the phone during these calls. Bradl has accused Mello of 'doxxing' by including unredacted phone numbers in his motion, which the judge has asked to be refiled with redactions. Furthermore, authorities have seized two of Karen Read's phones, Kearney is seeking discovery evidence and details on any offers made by investigators for cooperation, and the Norfolk special prosecutor alleges Bradl contrived a plan for Kearney to speak to one of his followers on a privileged phone line. An assistant superintendent from the Norfolk Jail testified about the rules for jail calls, clarifying that only communications with attorneys are unmonitored.
