Animal shelters across the United States are experiencing a significant influx of animals, particularly cats and dogs, leading to a crisis situation. The Animal Rescue League (ARL) of Boston is seeing record numbers of 'community cat' kittens, while shelters nationwide are in urgent need of assistance during the peak of kitten season. More than three dozen homeless dogs have arrived in Massachusetts from Texas, prompting the MSPCA to waive adoption fees for some dogs. The Austin Animal Center is also facing a critical situation with hundreds of animals in need of homes. In response, California will host Adopt-a-Pet Day on June 1st, offering waived adoption fees to encourage pet adoptions.
