The Liberal Party is currently facing internal divisions over the potential return of former Treasurer Josh Frydenberg to politics. Senior Liberal figures have expressed a strong desire for Frydenberg to recontest his old seat of Kooyong, with some urging him to 'put up or shut up.' Despite this, Frydenberg's return is uncertain as he has recently purchased a new house and holds a lucrative private sector job. Liberal MPs are split on the issue, with some seeing his return as beneficial for the party, while others believe the current candidate, Ryan, is strong. The preselection process remains open, and discussions continue within the party. Shadow Finance Minister Jane Hume and One Nation Chief of Staff James Ashby have also weighed in on the issue.

For what it's worth, I'd be really surprised if Josh Frydenberg ran in Kooyong. Bought a new house (that he'll have to pay for), has a lucrative private sector job. Ryan will probably go better than people think. Already a strong Lib candidate. My money is on status quo.
