Sony has announced that its PlayStation VR 2 (PSVR2) headset will gain PC support later this year, marking a significant move for the gaming giant. The announcement, which followed the unveiling of a wireless MR headset at CES, has sparked discussions among gamers and developers about the potential for enhanced compatibility and the future of VR gaming. While it's not yet clear how the PSVR2 will connect to PCs, speculation ranges from direct plug-and-play to the use of middleware or a Steam Link equivalent, with USB-C mentioned as a possible connection method. This development is seen as a positive step, potentially addressing the content limitations of VR platforms by opening up access to a broader range of PC VR games, including popular titles like Half Life Alyx. Sony's move also addresses the acknowledged weak game library of the PSVR2 and positions it uniquely in the market, as it could be the only headset at its price point to offer features such as eye tracking, haptics, and advanced controllers for PC users.
If PlayStation VR2 does get Steam Link support, I wonder how many developers would actually be willing to make their PC VR game work with the headset and whether this will be financially feasible and/or attractive.

Once Sony announced that wireless MR headset at CES it made me think that the PSVR2 getting PC support was way more likely, but now its real. https://t.co/6oaxn7bRMH
Hmm... The way this is phrased almost seems like they intend to just implement some kind of Steam Link equivalent, not simply allow you to plug and play on PC. Hoping for the latter, though, because I'd definitely get a PSVR2 if I could use it on my PC instead. https://t.co/oy5KT9KpX5
