Meta, in response to Vision Pro, aims to compete with Apple in MR using Quest, shifting focus from gaming to a smartphone-like device. Concerns raised about Meta copying Apple and the need for differentiation. Speculation on XR devices replacing computers, potential lightweight headsets from Apple, and the evolving AR/VR landscape.
I don’t believe in the one XR device for everything. I think that Apple and Meta are distracted with winning the iOS vs Android wars. But I believe in headsets and glasses for different use cases. People should start to think AR/VR more like wearables and less like phones.

I don't think that Apple Vision Pro or Quest are meant to substitute phones one day, they'll substitute computers (both laptop and desktop). IMO, Apple one day will launch a new lightweight headset ( in parallel to the AVP ) for "mobile usage", Like Meta's Rayban Stories.
Quest 2 pro, no controllers!? It's all about copying now for Meta and actually they need to differentiate themselves from Apple.

Why would Meta's own account make a post like this, if not as a response to Vision Pro, and to feed into the rampant Quest vs Vision Pro rhetoric? Meta is going to compete with Apple in MR and may use Quest to do it which becomes less a gaming console and more a smartphone. https://t.co/BW0Y5Ba8lX
