Meta has significantly delayed the Augments on Quest, needing to start from scratch, potentially affecting the original 2024 timeframe. The market for Quest 3 may face stagnation if a killer mixed reality app is not developed. Meta has sold between 900K - 1.5M Quest 3 headset units since October 2023, positioning them as a clear category leader.
The #MetaQuest3's next-gen #AugmentedReality upgrade has been delayed https://t.co/kT2X4mGC8o https://t.co/BX944Y9pBL
To contextualize this a bit, Meta has sold between 900K - 1.5M Quest 3 headset units since October 2023, and not including the latest quarter. If we put them head-to-head, there is a clear category leader (thus far, still super early). https://t.co/CWAyqL679q

Also since quest 2 cannibalized a lot of the quest 3 market, if the meta still doesn't have a killer mixed reality app after the release of quest 3s which focuses on mixed reality, then the market for it remains stagnant https://t.co/F9VwXfSQoF
Meta has significantly delayed Augments on Quest, stating they have to start from scratch. I hope this doesn’t impact their original 2024 timeframe. It would be great if they could still launch it alongside the Quest 3s. https://t.co/VESn0Tlib0
