Amid concerns over the rise of AI-generated deepfakes, especially in a U.S. election year, various organizations and individuals are rallying for broader laws and legislation to combat the malicious use of deepfake technology. Advocates argue that it's insufficient to simply ban individual accounts posting deepfakes or to shut down trending topics; instead, a comprehensive approach to ban deepfakes across their entire supply chain is necessary, aiming to protect individuals including Taylor Swift. Hugging Face and its collaborators, focusing on social impact, have compiled a collection of state-of-the-art technologies aimed at detecting and combating deepfakes. Furthermore, Truepic and Hugging Face have partnered to integrate the C2PA open standard, promoted via #ContentCredentials, into AI-generated content, promoting media provenance and transparency. Adobe and other entities are also contributing to these efforts by exploring and extending media provenance techniques, such as watermarking and fingerprinting, to reinforce the authenticity of digital content.
Detecting AI-generated content is going to become more and more important as images and videos begin flooding our feeds and inboxes. Thank you @mashable for featuring our work! https://t.co/giM9iJtgDn
