TomTom Cuts 300 Jobs as Mapping Firm Accelerates AI Reboot

Dutch mapping and navigation company TomTom said on 30 June it will eliminate 300 positions, roughly a tenth of its global headcount of 3,600, as it reorganises to embed artificial-intelligence tools more deeply into its products and operations. Roles in the application layer as well as sales and customer-support teams will be affected, with fewer than half of the redundancies occurring in the Netherlands, the company said.

Chief Executive Officer Harold Goddijn stated the overhaul is intended to "improve the experience and shorten innovation cycles" by automating more development work. The move follows a 2022 restructuring that trimmed about 500 jobs as the Amsterdam-based firm sought to automate map creation amid intensifying competition from services such as Google Maps and Waze.

TomTom reported a €17 million net loss last year and expects 2025 revenue to fall to between €505 million and €565 million, down from €574 million in 2024. Management said the latest cost reductions and AI-driven product strategy are aimed at restoring profitability while positioning the 33-year-old company for longer-term growth.
