Kenya has launched public hearings into allegations of human rights violations and abuses of power by British troops based in the former colony. The hearings come amid reports of atrocities, including sexual abuse, committed by the British army. Samburu victims have paraded children born of such abuses. Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale announced that Kenya will now charge British soldiers for crimes committed in the country, emphasizing that all criminal acts by foreign troops will be dealt with by the host country. Duale also mentioned that Kenya has acquired 16 new helicopters from the US to enhance the capabilities of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
